While adding minimalist aesthetics, the Brand Designer & Creative Director’s latest line titled ‘TEAM WANG COOKIES—THE VELVET’ is bold and daring, implementing the sleek texture of velvet into the collection while preserving the brand’s DNA.
Jackson Wang has released a new modern collection for the modern man following the release of Team Wang’s first collection ‘COOKIES—THE ORIGINAL’, in just over half a year.
“At TEAM WANG, we call each collection ‘Cookies’, ” the K-Pop singer-songwriter said. “Regardless of our fashion or music production, the backbone is always TEAM WANG’s vision and philosophy. In this context, fashion is just like a snack, so we call it ‘Cookies’.”
With a focus on self-confidence and vitality, the all-black line consists of 11 of apparel pieces, part of an outerwear collection, from jackets and vests, round-neck sweaters, t-shirts, handbags, to fisherman hats, baseball caps, and small accessories.
The colour velvet is itself “a fabric full of strength and emotion,” the company explained. Rather than having the pieces worn by a model, the artist’s newest campaign features an anonymous figure or “invisible man”.
“In the campaign, the invisible man wrapped in velvet pieces is confronting his own body, symbolizing the self-struggle and introspection that every official member face in the self-understanding and exploring process,” the streetwear and lifestyle label explained.
“Furthermore, his flexible limbs embody his resilience and fearlessness, which can adequately resist all the fatigue caused by this kind of self- analysis, and finally transforms him into his true self – a sophisticated man.”
Focused on minimalist essentials, the Chinese pop star’s debut sporty collection is entirely sold out on the company’s official website, as of this writing.
Formerly an Olympic-caliber fencer, Wang is known for his elegant personal look and mix of sporty fare with runway menswear, for campaigns and capsule collections alike. His company was named after Wang’s record label that was established in 2017.
From serving as the global and Asia ambassador for fashion powerhouses and firms, the Hong Kong native has released capsule collections from his Team Wang designer label with brands that include Fendi and Ray-Ban.
