BIGBANG’s Taeyang has signed with The Black Label, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment run by Teddy Park.
YG departure
“We’re truly happy to announce Taeyang’s new start. There is no change in his status as YG family and a member of BIGBANG,” his former agency YG said, according to Yonhap News Agency. “Since we know many people are waiting for the group’s activities, we’ll make efforts for this together.”
The Black Label was founded by powerhouse record label YG and trusted producer Park in 2016. He is known as the main producer to artists like BLACKPINK, Jeon Somi, and Zion.T.
BIGBANG member
Taeyang debuted as part of BIGBANG in 2006, with G-Dragon, T.O.P, Seungri, and Daesung. Seungri, the youngest member, retired from the entertainment industry in March 2019 over his involvement in a sex and gambling scandal.
The iconic band released a number of hit songs, such as ‘Bang Bang Bang,’ ‘Lies,’ and ‘Fantastic Baby.’
Following Seungri’s departure, the quartet dropped the new single ‘Still Life’ in April after four-year hiatus due to members’ military enlistments.
Other members’ future
While no word on Daesung, YG is said to be in talks with G-Dragon over his contract. T.O.P, who will be traveling to the moon next year on the ‘dearMoon’ mission, left the label in February following the expiration of his contract but took part in the band’s latest single.
