BLACKPINK will hit the stage as headliners at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this April, becoming the first K-Pop band to do so.
Headliners
It is BLACKPINK’s second appearance at the US music and art festival. Members Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé last performed in 2019.
The quartet will be joining Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean as headliners, its organizers announced. Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Swedish House Mafia, and the Weeknd headlined Coachella last year.
The star-studded lineup includes Rosalia, Calvin Harris, Pusha T, Becky G, Labrinth, Gorillaz, and Chemical Brothers.
DPR IAN, DPR Live, and Jackson Wang will also be taking the stage on April 16 and 23.
Coachella has seen other Korean musicians take part in the star-studded music festival such as the likes of duo EE and hip-hop group Epik High in 2011 and 2016, respectively. Alongside BLACKPINK, indie band Hyukoh and rock band Jambinai also performed in 2019.
K-Pop veteran BIGBANG was set to stage a major comeback performance at the festival in 2020 but didn’t pull throw due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Second-generation K-Pop girl group 2NE1 reunited as a full unit for the first time in six years at Coachella as part of 88rising’s ‘Heads In The Clouds Forever’ set in 2022. SM Entertainment’s rookie girl band aespa also hit the stage that same year.
When and where
Coachella will run for two weekends between April 14-16 and April 21-23 in Indio, California. BLACKPINK will be performing two shows, one each on April 15 and April 22.
World tour
BLACKPINK is scheduled to hit the stage in Riyadh on January 20 before heading off to Abu Dhabi for a one-night performance.
The K-Pop sensation recently added four shows to the Asian leg of its world tour.
