Stray Kids, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), BTS’ Jung Kook, and BLACKPINK have all won awards at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Stray Kids received the Best K-Pop for ‘S-Class,’ the title track off of its third studio album ‘5-STAR,’ winning over the likes of aespa, BLACKPINK, TXT, and SEVENTEEN. “We have making our own music ever since the start of our career, but to receive this award just really means a lot to us,” member Bang Chan said on stage.
TXT won the award for PUSH Performance of the Year with ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ from the fifth mini album ‘The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION.’
The two boy groups also performed at the annual awards show; TXT and Brazilian pop star Anitta showcased a stunning performance of their new collaborative track ‘Back for More’ while Stray Kids debuted single ‘5-Star’ on MTV VMAs stage.
Jung Kook grabbed the Song of Summer trophy for his solo single ‘Seven,’ beating the likes of Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, and Billie Eilish.
BLACKPINK was awarded Best Choreography for “Pink Venom” and Group of the Year.
Both Jung Kook and BLACKPINK did not attend the awards ceremony.
