IU started off the year in full swing.
Netflix drama
Netflix has announced that the K-pop soloist will take on the lead role of the rebellious Ae Suna in the series ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ alongside Park Bo-gum, Moon So-ri, and Park Hae-joon. The title in the Jeju dialect translates to ‘thank you for your hard work.’
Set in Jeju Island in the 1950s, the Korean original series is produced by Kim Won-suk (‘Misaeng: Incomplete Life,’ ‘Signal,’ ‘My Mister’) and written by Lim Sang-chun (‘Becky’s Back,’ ‘Fight for My Way,’ ‘When the Camellia Blooms’).
It will mark IU’s second time working with director Kim following her role in series ‘My Mister.’
New album
The singer-songwriter-actress will also drop her sixth mini-album, titled ‘The Winning,’ on February 20, marking around two years and a month since her special EP ‘Pieces.’
The singer revealed the news in a teaser video for the forthcoming release on social media. Her pre-released track ‘Love Wins All’ will also be included on the new album.
First world tour
This year may be globally impactful for IU as she is set to hold her first-ever world tour, ‘IU H.E.R. World Tour,” with stops in Asia, Europe, and North America.
IU made her first major public appearance at the Gucci Ancora Fashion Show during Milan Fashion Week Menswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 on January 12.
