BLACKPINK’s Lisa and Lloud Co. have announced a new partnership with RCA Records.
New career move
Under the deal, the K-pop star will release new solo music with the American record label owned by Sony Music Entertainment. She will also retain full ownership of her recordings, according to the announcement.
“I’m super excited to be joining the RCA family and I am confident they are the best team to create a bigger movement in my solo career. Looking forward to showing the world everything we have been preparing,” Lisa said in a statement on the deal.
The 27-year-old joins a roster of artists under the RCA Records belt, including Tate McRae, Latto, Victoria Monet, P!NK, A$AP Rocky, Doja Cat, and Foo Fighters.
Solo debut, new label
Born as Lalisa Manobal, the K-pop star launched her own label in February “in an effort to create a platform to showcase her overall vision in music and entertainment that pushes boundaries,” according to the announcement. With the exception of her solo ventures, her group activities with BLACKPINK will still be managed by her longtime agency YG Entertainment.
Lisa became the first female artist in South Korea to sell nearly 750,000 copies of her album in the first week of release with single ‘Lalisa in September 2021.
Last year, she broke a slew of Guinness World Records and was the first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV European Music Awards.
What to look forward to
While it’s unclear on the details on her new solo music, Lisa will make her screen debut in the third season of the hit HBO Original series, ‘The White Lotus.’
