All eight members of fromis_9 have decided to part ways with PLEDIS Entertainment.

“We discussed at length and in depth with the members of fromis_9 regarding each member’s future and direction and have come to an amicable conclusion to end the exclusive artist contract,” their agency said in a statement on Weverse. PLEDIS — the label home to K-pop boy groups SEVENTEEN and TWS and former Wanna One member Hwang Min-hyun — has managed the girl group since 2021.
The eight-piece girl group’s exclusive contract is set to expire on December 31.
“We would also like to thank fromis_9 who have always put their best foot forward and shown us a wide spectrum of different charms over the past seven years.”
Before their departure, fromis_9 will drop a fan song that the agency described as “their expression of their gratitude for their fandom” before concluding their activities.
fromis_9 is the second K-pop group under a HYBE subsidiary to announce contract termination. NewJeans held an emergency press conference yesterday to announce their decision to terminate their contracts with their agency ADOR after accusing it of “mistreatment” and “manipulation”.
About fromis_9
fromis_9 was formed in 2017 through cable channel Mnet’s audition program, Idol School. The K-pop group debuted in January 2018 with its first mini-album, To. Heart, under Stone Music Entertainment.
In September 2018, it was revealed that the all-female act will be managed by Off The Record Entertainment following the agency’s establishment. In August 2021, fromis_9 signed with PLEDIS Entertainment, a label under Korean billionaire Bang Si-hyuk’s K-pop powerhouse HYBE.
Initially a nine-piece, member Gyuri left the group last July 2022 after her contract expired. The girl group currently consists of Roh Ji-sun, Baek Ji-heon, Lee Seo-yeon, Lee Chae-young, Lee Na-gyung, Song Ha-young, Lee Sae-rom, and Park Ji-won.
In June, fromis_9 dropped its first full-length album, Unlock My World — the group’s first album since its fifth EP, ‘from our Memento Box,’ released in June 2023, and the first album with eight members.
