‘My Name’ will be be available to Netflix subscribers on October 15.
Netflix confirmed the release date of the series with a teaser poster that read “No one can know. My enemy, my revenge” alongside actress Han So-hee standing in a dark alleyway with facial scratches and a dagger in her blood-stained hand.
Her portrayal shows a different side to Han from her other roles, such as Yeo Da-gyeong in ‘The World of the Married’ and Yu Na-bi in ‘Nevertheless’. The actress plays a revenge-driven woman who joins a crime ring and becomes becomes a mole in the police force to seek the truth behind her father’s death. She performed the action scenes herself.
“My Name promises to be a gratifying action noir film with a tightly woven plot and thrilling suspense,” Netflix said in a statement.
The announcement comes a year after Netflix confirmed the casting for the action noir series in September 2020, starring Park Hee-soon, Ahn Bo-hyun, Kim Sang-ho, Lee Hak-ju and Jang Yull.
Park portrays the kingpin of Dongcheon, the country’s top drug cartel, while Ahn will play police detective of the narcotics unit. Kim Sang-ho, best known in the popular original series ‘Kingdom’, will also play the chief of the narcotics unit.
Kim Jin-min, who teamed up with Netflix for original series ‘Extracurricular’, will direct his second project for Netflix.
Produced by Studio Santa Claus Co., Ltd, ‘My Name’ will be released to over 190 countries on the streaming giant.
