‘Squid Game’, the South Korean show that has become a global phenomenon, is Netflix’s biggest TV show ever, the streaming giant said in its latest financial report, with 142 million members choosing to watch the title in its first four weeks globally.
Released on September 17, it ranked as our number one in 94 countries, including the US. The Korean thriller is also reclaimed its top spot on Netflix’s most-watched after being dethroned by the third season of ‘You’.
“Like some of our other big hits, ‘Squid Game’ has also pierced the cultural zeitgeist, spawning a ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit and memes/clips on TikTok with more than 42 billion views,” it said.
“Demand for consumer products to celebrate the fandom for ‘Squid Game’ is high and those items are on their way to retail now.”
