Lee Yoo-mi won the Emmy for guest actress in a drama for her role in dystopian Netflix series ‘Squid Game’ at Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmys, making her the first Korean actress to win this category.
She accepted the trophy on stage at a theater in downtown Los Angeles, speaking a few sentences in Korean before yelling in English: “I’m so very happy!”
“I’m so grateful. Thank you so much for giving me such a great award,” Lee said, via a translator, when accepting the award on stage at a theater in downtown Los Angeles. “I’m grateful to the Emmy Awards, and I love Netflix, who is always by my side, and I also love my agency VARO Entertainment.”
“I’m so very happy, thank you!” Lee yelled in English.
The South Korean drama took home three other trophies — Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, Outstanding Stunt Performance, and Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More) — at the event that honors behind-the-scenes artists in TV.
