NCT member `Jeno opened Peter Do’s Spring/Summer 2023 show at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). It marked the Brooklyn-based Vietnamese-American designer’s menswear debut three years after producing womenswear.
The K-Pop star strutted down the runway wearing a backless blazer on top of a white shirt with lustrous side-slit satin pants, and sleek platform heels.
Prior to in his fashion week debut, Do shared with fans a look into Jeno’s outfit and the star practicing his runway. The day before, Jeno was spotted at Vogue’s star-studded 130th-anniversary celebration ‘Vogue World,’ where he sat front row and snapped photos with stars like Dove Cameron, Jared Leto, Sabrina Carpenter, and Ellie Goulding.
Do’s androgynous, largely monochromatic line also featured short suits, overblown blazers, leather slacks, pleated skirts, and buoyant coats. He explained that this year’s collection was inspired by the concept of “time.”
As part of a collaboration with Korean entertainment conglomerate SM Entertainment, SM Rookies Shohei and Eunseok also walked the runway in style, sporting versions of the classic white shirt and black trouser look.
Red Velvet’s Seulgi was spotted sitting front row, supporting her labelmates.
The inaugural collection featured invitations in form of a cookie tin that included an old-school mix CD featuring releases from SM Entertainment artists that he grew up listening to and note from Do. “There’s the nostalgia of listening to Girls’ Generation songs on the bus on my way to school. And when we started the brand, we were listening to Red Velvet on repeat while building studio furniture,” he said in a statement.
Do previously dressed NCT’s Johnny for the 2022 Met Gala, where the K-Pop artist sported a three-piece black satin suit with an elongated double-breasted coat complete with a dramatic train.
