PLEDIS Entertainment has announced the official end of its exclusive contract with BAEKHO, which will conclude on March 14.
Contract conclusion
After thoughtful and honest discussions between the two parties regarding the future direction of BAEKHO’s career, it has been mutually agreed that their partnership will come to a close.
The HYBE label home to K-pop groups SEVENTEEN and BTS expressed its heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support BAEKHO has received from his fans, known as dOnO, over the years. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have shown unwavering love and support for BAEKHO,” the statement read on a Weverse fan community post.
As a token of his appreciation to the fans, the former NU’EST member will release a special digital single on March 14. This song will mark the conclusion of his official activities under PLEDIS Entertainment before he embarks on his new journey.
The Korean label also took a moment to reflect on their time working together with BAEKHO. “We are truly grateful to BAEKHO for working with us all these years,” the agency stated, expressing their best wishes for his future.
“We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to all dOnO who have always stood by BAEKHO’s side. We ask that you continue to love and support BAEKHO’s new journey with a warm heart.”
BAEKHO’s departure comes a few months after all eight members of girl group fromis_9 also decided to part ways with PLEDIS Entertainment.
Career
BAEKHO, born Kang Dong-ho, debuted in the K-pop industry in the five-member boy group NU’EST in 2012. After 11 years, the group disbanded in March 2022. BAEKHO and Minhyun renewed their contracts with PLEDIS Entertainment, while the other three members—Aron, JR, and Ren—parted ways with the agency.
BAEKHO debuted as a solo artist with his first EP, ‘Absolute Zero,’ in October 2022 and has broadened his artistic range, from producing and singing to acting. His last release was the September 2024 single ‘Nutty Nutty,’ featuring Jessi. That same year, he dropped the EP ‘Love Or Die’ and the single ‘Wet & Wild.’
