Blackpink’s Lisa has been selected to be part of the jury of the 2021 ANDAM (Association Nationale de Developpement des Arts de la Mode) Fashion Awards this summer.
Born as Lalisa Manobal, she is the only K-Pop idol to help select the next winner of the prestigious French prize during all the candidate selection process this year.
As part of the 14-person guest jury, the Thai rapper, singer and dancer will join a diverse list of creative types, that includes French singer and actress Lou Doillon; photographer Juergen Teller, investor and entrepreneur Natalie Massenet, Chinese singer Chris Lee, Amazon’s head of fashion direction Sally Singer, among others.
ANDAM — the French acronym for National Association of the Development of the Fashion Arts — was created in 1989 by Nathalie Dufour with the support of the French Ministry of Culture, the DEFI, the development Committee and promotional clothing, and with the late Pierre Bergé as president.
Supported by large corporate sponsors such as Balenciaga, Chanel, Chloé, Google, Kering, Lacoste, LVMH, Saint Laurent, it has been considered as a stepping stone for designers who would go on to achieve international recognition in the industry on a global scale. Past winners include Martin Margiela, Christophe Lemaire and Viktor & Rolf.
The jury meeting will take place on July 1, 2021. The four fellowship winners, elected by absolute majority, will be announced at the end of the Nationale Commission, during the ANDAM Prize Ceremony.
Lisa is no stranger to the fashion scene. Last year, she was announced as the new global ambassador for French luxury brand, Celine. Lisa also ambassador for MAC and Bulgari.
She recently dropped a new performance, entitled “Lili’s film The Movie”, on her YouTube channel, Lilifilm Official, wearing a long ponytail and a loose grey suit by Korean brand Badblood.
Signed under South Korean behemoth YG Entertainment, Lisa debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group in 2016. Alongside her bandmates Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé, she successfully held BlackPink’s first online concert “The Show” in January, drawing around 280,000 paying members.
Lisa will soon also be returning as a mentor on the Chinese idol survival program “Youth With You.”
