RIIZE’s Seunghan has decided to depart from the boy group.
Departure
Just two days after announcing the 21-year-old’s return from a yearlong hiatus, Wizard Production—the SM Entertainment division in charge of RIIZE—has announced Seunghan’s official departure.
Seunghan was suspended from group activities last November personal videos and photos from his trainee days were leaked online in August 2023 before RIIZE’s debut. The leaks depicted him engaging in underage smoking and intimate behavior with a girl.
News of his return sparked a wave of backlash from the group’s fanbase BRIIZE.
The same day, he penned a handwritten letter to fans on the global fandom platform Weverse where he discussed his feelings upon his exit.
About RIIZE
RIIZE — a combination of the words “rise” and “realize” — is SM Entertainment’s first new boy group in three years and the first boy group in seven years.
The band debuted last September 2023 with the physical single ‘Get A Guitar,’ which sold over a million copies. That same month, Anton, Sungchan, Shotaro, Eunseok, Seunghan, Wonbin, and Sohee performed at KCON Saudi Arabia 2023.
In June, the rookies released their first EP ‘Riizing’, consisting of tracks ‘Impossible,’ Boom Boom Bass, ‘Siren,’ ‘9 Days,’ ‘Honestly,’ ‘Talk Saxy,’ ‘Love 119,’ and ‘One Kiss.’
