This year, BTS has succeeded to a historic degree, far beyond anyone’s imagination. They not only dominated 2020 but they also were among trending searches on Google, as per the tech giant’s annual year in search review.
Here’s how the K-Pop kings of social media took over Google this year:
Online Concert
BTS’ online concert, ‘BANG BANG CON’ was among the top “Concert” searches this year.
Played for approximately 24 hours across two days, it amassed a staggering total of 50.5 million views, with 2.24 million concurrent viewers at one time in April.
The past two days saw 500,000 of the septet’s official light sticks connected across 162 regions. The hashtag racked up to 6.46 million counts on Weverse and Twitter.
‘Dynamite’ Lyrics
BTS recently became the first Korean act to top Billboard’s Hot 100 with single ‘Dynamite’. As per Google Trends, lyrics for their massive hit had the fifth most searches this year on Google alone this year.
Searches for the song’s lyrics reached a peak from August 16 until August 22, the tech giant’s 2020 search trends data.
‘Savage Love’ Lyrics
Yet, unknown to others, Big Hit Entertainment’s artist also caused another song to receive to drive searches on the search engine.
It was none other than by New Zealand music producer Jawsh 685 and American singer Jason Derulo’s ‘Savage Love’, which reached the highest peak during the week of September 27 through October 3.
This occurred the week their remixed version of the American musician’s hit song dropped, driving people to flock to Google search.
The song even drove to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, making it the second Hot 100 number one each for Derulo and BTS and the first for Jawsh 685.
