CIX made their first comeback of the year with seventh EP, ‘Thunder Fever,’ marking a new chapter as a quartet following Bae Jin-young’s departure in August 2024.
New beginnings
The lead track, ‘Thunder,’ is electronic pop release with dynamic beats and intense energy that aligns the EP’s theme of overcoming adversity and confronting emotional turmoil. It compares the chaotic mix of emotions and the overwhelming rush of love to the power of thunder and lightning.
The music video features bold visual aesthetics—lightning storms, dark storm clouds and flashes of neon lights—emphasizing the themes of intensity and inner strength.
In addition to ‘Thunder,’ the EP also includes a variety of two new tracks and new editions of their previously released tracks ‘Lovers or Enemies’ and ‘My name is shadow.’ It highlights the members’ versatility and sonic diversity and embracing both the intensity of “thunder” and the feverish energy of their fanbase.
“We worked on this album by sharing many thoughts and opinions among members. From our title track, “THUNDER,” you’ll feel the vibe that only CIX can create. We also focused on creating the performance that can best embody who we are,” member Hyunsuk said in a statement.
The EP also landed on the iTunes Pop chart and K-Pop chart in the UAE.
About CIX
CIX — which stands for ‘Complete in X’— made its debut under the South Korean music company C9 Entertainment in 2019 with EP, ‘HELLO Chapter 1. Hello, Stranger.’ The K-pop band released songs such as ‘Without You,’ ‘Cinema,’ (2021), and ‘458.’
The original lineup had five members: BX, Seunghun, Yonghee, Bae Jin-young, and Hyunsuk. However, in August of last year, it was revealed that Bae parted ways with both the band and its agency. He had originally been a member of the temporary boy group Wanna One, which was formed during the second season of Mnet’s audition program Produce 101 in 2017. Later, in July 2019, he joined CIX, just six months after Wanna One disbanded in January of that same year.
