‘KITE: K-POP in the Emirates’ is returning for the third time to the UAE.
This year’s free concert, co-hosted by Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the UAE, will see second-generation K-Pop idol Rain and rising singer-songwriter Heize take to the stage on October 2 at The Agenda in Dubai Media City.
Concertgoers will also expect XR video performances from singer-songwriter 10cm, singer-songwriter SWJA, rock band YB, rapper Ph-1, duo Prudence, and singer Car, the Garden.
While it’s their first time performing in and for the region, Rain will be heading off to KCON 2022 Saudi Arabia to perform on September 30 before making his debut appearance in Dubai.
KITE marks almost a year since top-billed K-Pop stars such as Highlight, Punch, Laboum, Luminous and BTOB performed at Jubilee Park in Dubai in hybrid form due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Since its first virtual concert in 2020 with more than 15,400 real-time viewers, the KITE has also been much-loved by K-Pop fans in the UAE,” Oh Hyun Jeon, Regional Director of KOCCA UAE, said in a statement. “Last year, we had more than 3,600 audiences coming to the KITE at Dubai EXPO 2020 and this has become a symbolic sign of cultural exchange between Korea and UAE.
A total of 26 artists, including Cravity, Dreamcatcher, NCT U, Astro, and Kim Jae-hwan participated at KITE’s 2020 concert.
