BTS has notched nominations at the 65th Grammy Awards, becoming the first K-Pop act to receive a nomination for three years in a row.
The septet grabbed nods for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for ‘My Universe’ with British rock band Coldplay, the Recording Academy announced. This marks BTS’ third nomination in the category.
Coldplay’s album ‘Music of the Spheres,’ which includes the band’s collaborative single with BTS, is vying for the Album of the Year award. Members RM, j-hope, and Suga are credited as songwriters.
‘Yet to Come,’ the main single off BTS’ latest anthology album ‘Proof’, is also competing in the ‘Best Music Video’ award. It’s BTS’ first nod in the category and is the first K-Pop group to be nominated in the category.
The K-Pop act was previously nominated for popular tracks Dynamite’ and ‘Butter’ in 2020 and 2021, respectively. BTS became the first Korean pop act to earn nominations and perform at the awards ceremony.
To be eligible at the annual ceremony, music had to have been released between October 1, 2022 and September 30, 2023.
Among the slate of nominees include Beyoncé, who now ties with her husband and rap mogul Jay-Z, for the most nods with 88. Rapper Kendrick Lamar scored eight, while Brandi Carlile and Adele grabbed seven apiece.
The 2023 Grammy Awards is set to take place on February 5 in Los Angeles.
