‘KITE: K-Pop in the Emirates’ is coming back to the UAE next month to mark the UAE’s Golden Jubilee at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the UAE announced the news on Twitter, a week after it teased that BTOB will be performing soon, without disclosing any further details.
The K-Pop boy band is revealed that to be part of a star-studded lineup, featuring acts Laboum, Highlight, Luminous, and Punch. Highlight and Punch will perform on the site while the other acts will appear in pre-recorded performances.
“We have been to many overseas concerts since our first debut, but it was our first time visiting here in Dubai and UAE,” Highlight said in a statement. “First of all, we are extremely happy to meet fans in the UAE for the first time. Moreover, it is an honor to show K-Pop performances on a big stage like the Dubai Expo 2020.”
Co-organized by the KCC UAE and The Korea Creative Content, the former believes that the K-Pop event will be an opportunity to further enhance cultural exchanges between the two countries.
“Through the KITE: K-Pop in the Emirates, we hope that Korea and UAE will develop into a stronger relationship as partners to share friendships for the next 50 years and a further future,” the girl group added.
While the other acts will make their debut performance, it’s the second time Punch, who is best known for her original soundtracks of various K-drama series, is set to perform for the UAE after taking the stage at the Korean Brand and Content Expo in 2019.
“I was disappointed that I had fewer opportunities to meet my fans after COVID-19. It’s my second visit since my first visit to Dubai 2 years ago, and I had a lot of good memories. I’m looking forward to this concert even more!” the soloist said.
A total of 26 K-Pop musicians, including NCT U, Dreamcatcher, Cherry Bullet, Astro, Cravity, AB6IX, Kim Jae-hwan participated in last year’s online concert.
The exclusive virtual concert will be replayed via KCC UAE’s YouTube channel for two weeks from November 12 at 8 pm GST.
