NCT’s Haechan temporarily halted all upcoming activities for health reasons and received a fine after spotted smoking inside a building.
Halts activities
Earlier this month, the K-pop star experienced fatigue and high fever during his schedule in Japan, SM Entertainment said on the online fan community Weverse. The symptoms were caused by severe tonsillitis and will focus on his recuperation, his agency confirmed.
Haechan did not participate in the ‘NCT 127 2ND TOUR ‘NEO CITY: JAPAN – THE LINK’ in Nagoya on January 7 and 8, and was unable to join NCT Dream members Jaemin, Chenle, Mark, Renjun, Jeno, and Jisung at the Circle Chart Music Awards 2023 on January 10.
“Whether he will participate in future events will be determined based on his recovery status,” the agency noted.
Receives fine
The NCT member was also issued a fine from the local public health center after he was spotted smoking an e-cigarette in a behind-the-scene dance practice clip for NCT 127’s single ‘Be There For Me.’ Fines for smoking indoors in Korea are around $76.
SM has taken down the video on the band’s YouTube channel. “We will also pay special attention to prevent this from happening again,” it added.
