NCT’s JAEHYUN has returned with his first solo release since completing his mandatory military service, unveiling the new single ’99 Degrees’ alongside its official music video.
Love at 99
The emotional ballad, which JAEHYUN co-wrote and co-composed, opens with delicate piano melodies before building into a sweeping arrangement.
Built around the metaphor of love at 99 degrees—just below the boiling point—the lyrics explore the idea that love is made complete not through perfection, but through another person, reflecting on finding wholeness in imperfection.
Visual storytelling
The accompanying music video follows JAEHYUN as he revisits places tied to memories, reflecting on the past while embracing personal growth. The visual narrative mirrors the song’s themes of letting go of perfection, accepting imperfection, and moving forward.
Speaking about the release, JAEHYUN said, “I’m happy to finally share ‘99 Degrees,’ a song I worked on with a lot of love. I hope listeners can also feel the beauty of finding something complete within imperfection.”
99 Degrees marks JAEHYUN’s latest solo release following a growing catalogue that includes his debut album ‘J’ and singles such as ‘Forever Only,’ ‘Unconditional,’ and ‘Horizon,’ each highlighting different facets of his musical style.
Future plans
The release comes after JAEHYUN’s fan-con tour stop in Taipei on July 4 and 5. He is also preparing to reunite with NCT 127 for the group’s seventh full-length album, scheduled for release on Aug. 24, ahead of the launch of the NCT 127 5TH TOUR ‘NEO CITY – THE REDLINE’ in Seoul this September.
