K-Pop rookie group NewJeans kicked off the new year with the single ‘OMG.’
New single
The lyrics of the hip-hop, R&B track talks about the desire to get close to a love interest for the first time, with awkward distance and cautious emotion.
According to the album’s distributor YG Plus, preorders for ‘OMG’ reached 800,000, breaking the girl group’s own record.
The new song follows ‘Ditto,’ the pre-release dance single from the new album, dropped in December 2021.

‘OMG’ charted in the top 10 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the UAE and Oman. The song dominated the K-Pop chart in both countries on the streaming music service.
According to YouTube, ‘OMG’ was among the new music videos that were immediately popular upon release in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Ador’s first girl group
Ador, an independent label under K-pop powerhouse Hybe, launched NewJeans with the four-track digital album ‘New Jeans’ in August 2022. The five-piece act rose to stardom with tracks ‘Attention’ and ‘Hype Boy,’ two of the three main tracks off its EP.
The multinational band is comprised of Kang Hae-rin, Kim Min-ji, and Lee Hye-in from Korea, Hanni from Vietnam, and Danielle from Australia.
Min Hee-Jin, Ador’s CEO and head producer, is the mastermind behind NewJeans. She was the creative director at SM Entertainment from 2002 to 2019.
