Park Seo-jun is set to make his Hollywood debut in a Marvel Comic’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film.
The actor’s agency Awesome ENT confirmed the news, adding that he left the country to shoot the new superhero film yet didn’t disclose any additional information.
“I am well aware that many people are curious about the name of the work, the character, the filming location, and the filming period, but detailed information about the film will be announced at a later date,” it said in a translated post.
This makes Park the third South Korean actor to star in a Marvel movie, following Claudia Kim and Ma Dong Seok who’ve appeared in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Eternals”, respectively.
His foray also comes shortly after the release of Marvel’s first movie with an Asian superhero “Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings”.
Back in July, Park was seemingly listed on the online film database platform IMDb as a cast member of “The Marvels,” a sequel to 2019’s “Captain Marvel,” expected to be directed by Nia DaCosta and begin filming this year. That same month, online entertainment news site Screen Rant reported that Park might play the Korean-American teenage hero Amadeus Cho.
At the time, his agency declined to confirm Park’s role in the feature.
Park has starred in several hit TV romantic comedies such as “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” and “Itaewon Class.” He also made a cameo appearance in Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning film “Parasite”.
