Key made a grand entrance with his second album ‘Gasoline’ and the lead track of the same name.
The SHINee member gave fans a first glimpse of the single at SM Entertainment’s family concert, ‘SMTown Live 2022: SMCU Express@Tokyo’ in Japan last week.
The hip-hop dance number compares the fuel’s explosive power to himself, making his own way towards his goals.
He participated in the writing of the lyrics for four out of the 11 songs in his album, which consists of 11 songs, including ‘Bound,’ ‘Villain,’ and ‘Guilty Pleasure.’ Other songs such as ‘Proud,’ and ‘G.O.A.T’ reflect the singer’s personal life.
“I thought I would have to include an autobiographical story to give life to the album,” Key said, according to Yonhap News Agency, during an online press conference. “I definitely need a love song written by other people, but I wrote the lyrics myself to upgrade the album’s quality.”
Despite the majority of his agency staff resisting the ideas, K-Pop star wanted ‘Gasoline’ as the lead track.
Key’s latest return to the music scene comes 11 months since his first EP ‘Bad Love.’

Key’s album landed atop iTunes top albums chart in 23 regions, including Brazil, Australia, Colombia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, India, and Greece, SM Entertainment revealed.
The mini album also topped UAE’s iTunes Pop and K-Pop chart the day it was released. It was seen in the top 10 of the all-genre chart on iTunes.
