Cube Entertainment announced that Soojin will officially drop out from G(I)_DLE as of today amid allegations of bullying.
The K-Pop star’s label released an official statement announcing her departure from the girl group. Soojin has been embroiled in a school bullying controversy of which included having extorted money and valuables from others during her time in middle school.
“We bow our heads in apology for causing concern with the controversy surrounding Seo Soo-jin,” the label said in a statement as per Yonhap News Agency.
“We will provide steadfast support and do our best to ensure (G)I-DLE can present more mature music and performances.”
The 23-year-old halted all group activities since March after posts were circulating online alleging that the artist bullied students during school days. Actress Seo Shin Ae also came forward, revealing that the G(I)_DLE member bullied her when they were classmates together.
Soojin and Cube Entertainment denied the bullying allegations that arose in February, opting to sue the accuser and others who’ve left hateful comments.
The band will continue activities with the remaining five members.
