Eugenius, a Korean media company led by entertainment industry veteran Eugena Jung, has secured $3 million in funding from Shorooq, an Abu Dhabi-based alternative investments manager, to bring Korean content to the MENA region.
New funding
The cross-culture storytelling startup aims to release a range of TV programming such as a football variety show connecting K-pop stars and influencers with former Premier League players in the Middle East, and a K-pop music academy show with K-pop artists and MENA-based talent.
“From a K-pop Music Academy Show to a Soccer Variety Series, Eugenius is redefining global entertainment by blending cultures and creating stories that resonate across Korea and the MENA region,” the Abu Dhabi-based firm said in a Twitter post.
All its planned projects are slated for 2025.
Shorooq has also revealed that it invested in UAE-based AI-powered platform Halo AI’s $6 million seed funding round “to revolutionize the $250 billion creator economy.”

According to UAE news agency WAM, Jung founded Disney+ Korea and produced titles for media giants such as Disney+, HBO Asia, and MBC.
Eugenius participated in the ‘1 Billion Pitches’ competition as part of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, a three-day global content-focused event held in Dubai earlier this month.
