Starship Entertainment has introduced its first new boy group in nearly five years. IDID, a seven-member team, officially debuted on September 15 with their first EP I did it., a project that emphasizes unfiltered emotion and youthful energy.
The eight-track release is led by the single “CHAN-RAN,” a lively song built on acoustic guitar and rhythmic drums. Its central message—“The falls and the scars are still part of me”—captures the group’s approach to embracing imperfection as a defining feature.
“Even if I fall down and get hurt, that’s still part of me,” member Jeong Semin said during a press showcase in Seoul. “This represents the direction our team is heading in.”
Other tracks on the EP include pre-debut single “STEP IT UP,” the reflective “SLOW TIDE,” and “ImPerfect,” which underscores pride in flaws. Songs such as “So G.oo.D” and “STICKY BOMB” lean into intensity and urgency, while “Taking Off – Through Your Dreams” and “Blooming CROWN” revisit the group’s journey through the survival program Debut’s Plan, where the members secured their spots.
While each track explores different moods, the album as a whole presents what the group describes as a candid snapshot of their present. “What sets us apart from other groups is our youthful energy,” said Park Seonghyeon, with Jang Yonghoon adding that IDID aims for a “high-end refreshing vibe.”
The group consists of Jang Yonghoon, Kim Minjae, Park Wonbin, Chu Yoochan, Park Seonghyeon, Baek Junhyuk, and Jeong Semin. Their name, short for I did it, reflects their determination to achieve through persistence and hard work.
Looking ahead, the members expressed ambitions to follow in the footsteps of Starship’s established artists. “We want to become a group that defines an era, like Coldplay or Bruno Mars,” Jang Yonghoon said. “We hope to hold world tours and grow musically through global performances.”
For now, IDID is focused on making a strong entry into the industry. “Another goal of us is to make a strong first impression and win the Rookie of the Year award,” Baek Junhyuk said.
With I did it., IDID positions themselves as a group intent on turning imperfection into identity, marking a confident debut in the competitive K-pop landscape.
