NCT member Taeil set a record for the fastest time to reach a million followers on Instagram, the Guinness World Records announced Tuesday.
His account mo.on_air, which follows seven other accounts of which are fellow NCT bandmates, reached seven digits worth of followers in just one hour and 45 minutes after his first post on July 6.
Taeil announced his new Instagram account on a fandom application, with his first post so far hitting over a million likes.
“Thank you to all the fans! I was so surprised when I heard the news! I never imagined myself becoming a Guinness World Records title holder, and am truly grateful for all the love and support,” Taeil said.
“I would not be here without my members and our NCTzens. I’ll try my best to connect and communicate even more through socials. I love you all!”
The previous Guinness World Records was held by Harry Potter star Rupert Grint when he joined Instagram in November 2020 to announce the birth of his daughter. He reached 1 million followers on Instagram in four hours and one minute.
Before Grint was presenter and naturalist Sir David Attenborough, who was 94 years old when he joined Instagram created to raise awareness of climate change in September 2020.
David Beckham, Pope Francis, Jennifer Aniston and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have all also been previous record holders for the same title.
Other fellow K-Pop stars such as BLACKPINK’s Rosé and BTS have achieved their own records. In 2019, Kang Daniel broke Pope Francis’s record for the fastest time to gain one million followers on Instagram after joining the social media platform on New Year’s Day.
