TVXQ! Celebrates 20 Years With New Album

Veteran boy band TVXQ! celebrated 20 years together with the release of new album ’20&2.’

20th anniversary album

The album reflects the duo’s experiences over the years with a modern take on their distinct melodic talents. The lead track ‘Rebel’ encourages to move forward without stagnation.

The 10-track album consists of diverse genres, including solo tracks and as a fan-dedicated song titled ‘Promise’ co-written by Max Changmin. ‘The Way U Are (Unplugged Ver.)’ is a remix of the duo’s 2004 song of the same name.

TVXQ!’s 20th-anniversary commemorative album dominated the iTunes albums chart in the UAE. It’s also the K-pop duo’s first in five years.

Career

TVXQ!, which means ‘Rising Gods of the East,’ originally debuted as a five-member act on December 2003. Considered pioneers of the second generation of K-pop idols, SM Entertainment’s boy band grew immensely popular on their home turf and throughout Asia.

The five-piece boy group, however, went through a rough patch when members Kim Jae-joong, Kim Jun-su, Park Yoo-chun left the group over disputes concerning the label’s contract conditions. The trio eventually formed the group JYJ. The remaining members Yunho and Changmin resumed activities as a duo in 2011, starting with the release of their fifth album ‘Keep Your Head Down.’
