TWICE’s JIHYO has announced her departure from JYP Entertainment after 21 years and the launch of her own agency, EMITHAUS, for solo activities.

“After 21 years, my journey with JYP Entertainment, which began when I was just a child, has come to an end,” she wrote in a handwritten letter posted on Instagram. She will remain active with the K-pop group.

JIHYO thanked JYP staff for supporting her from childhood into adulthood. She acknowledged both the good and difficult experiences at the company, saying they had shaped who she is today.

“To me, independence is not so much a conclusion about the time that has passed, but a choice about how I want to live going forward,” JIHYO wrote. “As the first step in this new chapter, I have established my own company, EMITHAUS.”

She explained that EMITHAUS takes its name from “EMIT,” meaning “express or release,” and said she hopes the company will allow her to explore possibilities within herself that she has yet to discover.

“As I step away from a familiar environment and begin working in new ways, I will approach every decision and every endeavor with even greater thoughtfulness and responsibility,” she added.

JIHYO joined JYP as a trainee before debuting with TWICE in 2015 and later made her solo debut with the EP ‘ZONE’ in 2023.

Earlier this month, she attended Christian Louboutin’s ‘Eternal Youth’ show in Paris, which presented the brand’s Women’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection.

JIHYO explicitly addressed her future with TWICE, confirming that her departure from JYP does not mean leaving the group. “TWICE is an irreplaceable part of my life,” she wrote. “I will continue to stand on stage with my members and keep building more memories together for many years to come.”

She also thanked ONCE, the group’s fans, for supporting her over the past 11 years. “Thank you for giving me the courage to keep moving forward through your unwavering trust, love, and support. I will continue to fill the years ahead with choices and efforts that stay true to who I am and keep growing as an artist who lives up to all the love and support you’ve given me.”

JIHYO is the latest TWICE member to move her individual career outside JYP. JEONGYEON signed with VARO Entertainment in August to pursue acting, while CHAEYOUNG announced her departure that month to develop her solo music through ‘Lil Fantasy.’ Both continue their activities with TWICE.
