PLEDIS Entertainment’s new boy group TWS has made its grand entrance to the K-pop scene with five-track EP ‘Sparkling Blue.’
Rookie act debut
The six-piece act consists of Shinyu, Jihoon, Hanjin, Dohoon, Youngjae, and Kyungmin. It dropped pre-release single ‘Oh Mymy : 7s’ ahead of their official debut.
The name ‘TWS’ is an acronym for ‘Twenty-Four Seven With Us,’ reflecting the group’s commitment to forging a long-lasting connection with fans and the public.
“Our collective dream is to be called the ‘perfect idol’ through continuous hard work and improvement,” Youngjae said during a press conference in Seoul. The six-piece act also aims to spread positive energy through music and performances.
‘Boyhood pop’
‘Sparkling Blue’ explores the sextet’s bright, youthful intentions through their own music genre coined as ‘boyhood pop.’
The lead track ‘plot twist’ describes the anxiety that arises when meeting someone for the first time as depicted in the music video of which shows the six trying to make friends on the first day of school.
Pledis’ first boy band
TWS is the first rookie group represented by PLEDIS, a label under K-pop powerhouse HYBE, and the first since boy band SEVENTEEN’s debut in 2015.
“We want to thank people for giving us so much attention,” Jihoon said. “If it were not for our senior group’s career, efforts and sweat, we would not have been able to achieve this. So, we will also take responsibility and strive to showcase quality music and performance.”
Founded in 2005, Pledis Entertainment is home to several K-pop acts, including NU:EST, fromis_9, and After School.
