VICTON member Heo Chan will temporarily halt group activities after being investigated for drunk driving.
The group’s agency IST Entertainment said in a statement on Thursday that police caught the 27-year-old singer under the influence while returning home on Tuesday morning after meeting a friend.
It added Chan is under investigation at the Seoul Gangnam Police Station in southern Seoul and is expected to get his license getting revoked.
“Heo is deeply regretting his action which should never have happened. He will halt both the group’s and his solo activities from today on,” IST added.
As a result, he would be halting all group and solo activities. The rest of the members ― Kang Seung-sik, Lim Se-jun, Do Han-se, Choi Byung-chan, Jung Su-bin ― will carry out their scheduled activities, including their fan concert on October 15 and 16. Han Seung-woo is currently serving his mandatory military service.
Heo took to his personal Instagram to apologize for the drunk driving incident. “I should have taken more responsibility for my action, but I’ve let you down greatly by making the wrong decision. I truly regret it and am spending every day in regret and guilt.”
The singer debuted as part of VICTON in 2016. The boy group, known for songs like ‘Time of Sorrow,’ ‘Mayday,’ and ‘I’m Fine,’ performed at Dubai Festival City Mall in Dubai in March as part of the Korean Brand Expo, and at the Jeddah Season K-Pop festival in Saudi Arabia in July.
