Yugyeom’s new digital single ‘Ponytail’ featuring rapper Sik-K was a hit in Saudi Arabia.
Solo single
Following its release, the breezy R&B track debuted at number three on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the country.
Much like the title itself, Yugyeom compliments the way his significant other ties her hair in a ponytail and is beautiful no matter what against the backdrop of the brass instruments and the guitar riffs.
With a 4:3 aspect ratio, the music video is simple and natural in every way, with dancers sporting vibrant red ponytails, and fashion and camera angle reminiscent of the early 2000s.
‘Ponytail’ is the musician’s third release under hip-hop giant AOMG.
Solo venture
After GOT7’s contract with JYP Entertainment expired, Yugyeom signed with AOMG, home to producers and musicians such as GRAY, Lee Hi, Simon Dominic, and Woogie, in 2021. The hip-hop label was set up by Jay Park, who was also a former JYP Entertainment artist.
The rapper and main dancer of the seven-piece act develop his own musical style as a hip-hop solo artist heard in his solo debut EP ‘Point Of View: U’ and the digital single ‘Take U Down.’
World tour
Yugyeom will be embarking on AOMG’s ‘Follow The Movement’ tour in Asia with his labelmates Simon Dominic, Loco, GRAY, and Lee Hi.
It will kick off this month in Singapore followed by performances in Thailand, the Phillippines, and Japan.
