Jin, the oldest member of BTS, has been discharged from South Korea’s army after completing his mandatory 18-month service.
Military discharge
After hugging his fellow soldiers, the 31-year-old saluted in front of the main gate in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi province, before being greeted by bandmates j-hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. The BTS members, who are currently serving in the military, applied for leave to celebrate his discharge. Suga was absent from the scene.
RM played the band’s popular song ‘Dynamite’ on a saxophone to celebrate as the others greeted Jin.
Jin, who enlisted in the military in December 2022, is the first BTS member to complete his 18-month military service. He served as an assistant drill instructor at the Army recruit training center. Member j-hope is expected to finish hismilitary duty in October.
Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men are required to serve in the country’s military for between 18 and 21 months.
BTS reunion
Later in the day, the seven members gathered for a private welcoming party at the HYBE headquarters and shared a group photo from the party with their fans.
Jin, wearing his uniform and a black beret, went live on the Weverse fandom platform to greet fans, collectively known as ARMYS.
By 2025, BTS will return as a septet in 2025 after they all complete their mandated duty.
Post-military event
Jin plans to celebrate his discharge with an event in Seoul on Thursday where he will greet fans and stage a performance.
