j-hope has completed eighteen months of military service, becoming the second member of the seven-piece group BTS to complete his mandatory duty after the eldest member Jin.
The dancer-rapper emerged from the main gate of the 36th Army Infantry Division boot camp in Wonju, and hugged and received a bouquet of flowers from Jin — who was discharged in June — before saluting and waving to reporters and fans on the scene. j-hope enlisted in April last year and served as an assistant instructor.
Jin was the only member visiting him as his other bandmates — Suga, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook — are performing their military service.
In South Korea, all able-bodied men are required to serve between 18 and 21 months in the military. While J-Hope shared his thoughts on his military experience, Jin knelt to hold the microphones for him.
Jin grabbed attention when he took a bundle of microphones from a broadcasting staff member and kneeled in front of j-hope while he shared his thoughts on his military experience.
“During the service, I felt soldiers have been working hard, dedicating themselves, and doing so much for the country to protect it. I think it would be even more meaningful if the public showed such warm interest and love,” he went on saying. “Thank you for your great support, encouragement and love. I’ve been discharged healthy and well,” he said as per Yonhap News Agency.
